Microsoft has formulated an ambitious strategy on climate and sustainability, aiming to be carbon negative by 2030, to compensate for all historical emissions by 2050, and to invest heavily in emerging sustainability technologies. In close collaboration over several years and markets, we have worked with Microsoft to amplify its climate impact, not by focusing solely on Microsoft’s own footprint, but by enabling its customers to reduce theirs.

Our engagement began in Denmark, supporting the foundational analysis behind Microsoft’s Tech Action campaign. Since then, the collaboration has expanded across European and global markets. The common goal has been to enable Microsoft to help its customers reduce their carbon emissions, multiplying Microsoft’s overall impact on climate change far beyond its operational footprint.
Together with the Microsoft team, we analysed sustainability trends across industries and markets to identify where digital solutions could enable meaningful carbon reductions. We quantified the GHG reduction potential of using Microsoft technologies, developed “hero cases” to illustrate impact across sectors, and delivered training sessions for Microsoft employees, partners, and customers to bring these insights into practice.
Our collaboration has helped Microsoft scale its sustainability impact far beyond its own operations. By equipping internal teams, partners, and customers with the knowledge and tools to quantify and communicate carbon reduction potential, Microsoft is now positioned as a strategic enabler of climate action across industries and markets.
