Tivoli

Full Scope 1-3 GHG baseline

Tivoli is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic institutions, an amusement park and cultural destination with over 4.5 million annual visitors. From rides and restaurants to concerts and ballet performances, Tivoli offers a broad range of experiences with a diverse operational footprint. To take a data-driven approach to climate action, Tivoli partnered with The Footprint Firm to develop its first full Scope 1–3 GHG emissions baseline.

The project

Tivoli wanted to better understand its total carbon footprint across all operations and activities, including emissions from its suppliers, events, and infrastructure. The goal was to establish a credible baseline in accordance with the GHG Protocol, while building internal capabilities to carry out future GHG accounting in-house. We were brought in to lead the process and support knowledge transfer to the Tivoli team.

Our approach

In close collaboration with Tivoli’s sustainability lead, we calculated the full Scope 1–3 baseline and ensured that the process served as a learning opportunity for the internal team.

To enable organisation-wide ownership, we engaged multiple departments across Tivoli and onboarded more than 50 suppliers to gather high-quality data and increase awareness of climate action across the value chain.

The result was not only a comprehensive GHG baseline, but also a set of potential emissions reduction initiatives, prioritised through insights from the accounting process. A tailored governance model was also delivered to ensure long-term anchoring and continued progress.

The impact

Our work provided Tivoli with a robust, organisation-wide understanding of its emissions footprint, covering both direct operations and upstream activities.

By combining technical delivery with internal capacity building, Tivoli is now equipped to manage its climate impact more independently and strategically, with a clear foundation for setting targets and launching future sustainability initiatives.
