Team

We focus on the ‘we’ rather than the ‘I’ in everything we do – both professionally and socially. We believe in the notion of ‘being an owner’ – where we all make decisions, take responsibility and carry through. Founding letter

Going beyond individualism. The planet and its ecosystems face multiple imminent, interlinked sustainability challenges posing serious threats to the very survival of life as we know it.

Nothing is isolated — local affects global and vice versa.

It’s clear from the evidence: every individual, organization and country must act to address the climate crisis and prevent otherwise disastrous consequences.

This is our first step towards a much needed convergence to take on the greatest challenge facing humanity and planet Earth.

B Corp

At The Footprint Firm we have a sole focus on sustainability and we were born out of the vision of wanting to contribute to solving the climate crisis. At the same time, we strive to build an organisation where all workers are treated with respect and share our key value of being driven by contributing positively to the world.

We have used B Corp as a framework to ensure that the cornerstones of our business reflect our vision – and while the documentation and standards at B Corp are strict, we have embraced the process to give us an indication of our social and environmental performance across all aspects of our business and ensure we have all stakeholders in mind (employees, suppliers, business partners and the broader society) when making strategic or operational decisions.

This work has resulted in a range of internal policies and processes rooted firmly in our approach to sustainability and include some of the below commitments:

  • Internal carbon tax: Based on our Scope 1–3 emissions, we apply an internal carbon tax of DKK 1,500 per ton CO2e (per the Danish Council on Climate Change) and invest it primarily in Direct Air Capture with Carbon Storage, alongside support for selected international NGOs. Our aim isn’t to claim neutrality, but to help fund high-quality carbon removal early and encourage broader adoption.
  • Supplier engagement: We select suppliers carefully based on environmental and social performance. Each year we assess key suppliers’ sustainability work and engage with them to strengthen their ambitions and progress.
  • Transparency & co-ownership: We prioritize transparency and shared ownership across the firm, with open access to budgets, salaries, profits, and cash position for all employees. We operate as democratically as possible through employee board representation, collective input on investments, shared ownership of investments, and broad involvement in key decisions such as strategy, hiring, and internal knowledge development.
